Clinical Analysis of Breast Cancer Patients Treated by Breast Conservation Surgery

Abstract
|
|
|
Seven patients with stage in and II breast cancer were treated by breast conservation surgery between Jan. 1993 and Dec. 1994. Cosmetic results, complications and fear-of -recurrence were analysed by direct interviewing of all patients.
A loco-regional control rate was 100% in ll months median follow-up.
The overall subjective cosmetic result was excellent in 4 cases(57.1%), satisfactory in 3 cases (42.9%) and no patient answered unsatisfactory.
The objective cosmetic result was excellent in 3 cases(42.9%), satisfactory in 4 cases957.1%) and no unsatisfactory case.
The complications were transient breast fibrosis(5 cases, 70.1%), skin discoloration(5 cases, 70.1%), breast pain(3 cases, 42.9%), pheumonitis(1 cases, 14,35).
Fear-of recurrence was observed in 42.9% of conservation surgery group compared with 81.3% of mastectomy group.
